Pastor’s Midweek News-March 3, 2021
I was surprised when the Governor lifted the mask wearing mandate effective on March 10. I wondered if it was too soon. I wondered what a loving church ought to do. I prayed. I talked to our local doctor. And I talked to a few folks in the congregation. This is what I have discerned. First, if a person wants to wear a mask, they are welcome to do so at any time and for as long as they want to. Second, based on the advice I am hearing, it would be prudent for all of us to continue to wear masks for a few more weeks and until we see what the numbers do. Third, we sure encourage folks to get vaccinated and I am thankful that so many of you have been. Fourth, we will continue our cleaning and distancing for a few more weeks and until we gain a bit more confidence. Our guidelines remain the same. If you do not feel well, think you have been exposed to the virus, then worship with us at fumcluling.org. The message is videotaped or if you prefer, you can read it in narrative form. Or we are livestreaming at around 10:00 on Sunday from our Facebook page. Be sure to “like” and “share”. Let’s be safe and continue to pray thanksgiving that it appears that we are getting past this challenging time.
We continue our Lenten worship on Sunday with the Message: “All These Words”. Our focus scriptures are Exodus 20:1-17, John 1: 1-4, 14 and John 2:13-22. Our Confirmando, Faith Short, has prepared this invitation to worship, emphasizing how all are welcome to the Lord’s Table. So, come and join us. The in-person worship this week will be especially rich as “all these words” are delivered to a trembling Moses on Mt. Sinai.
Help! This is Debby’s last week as church secretary and we still have no firm applicants. Folks, we really need to fill this vacancy. Way too many things will fall through the cracks if we do not. If you are interested in knowing more about the job or putting in an application, please come by the church office. Or, if you know of someone who might be interested, please let them know of the opening.
We continue our “Rend your Hearts and Claim the Promise” series in March with March 14 2021, “Look Up and Live”, with focus scriptures John 3:14-21 and Numbers 21:4-9. March 21, 2021, “Written on the Heart” and our focus scriptures are Jeremiah 31:31-34 and Luke 22:15-20 (NIV). Finally, March 28, 2021, Palm Sunday, “The One Who Comes” and we will have Mark 11:1-11 as our focus scripture.
