Pastor’s Midweek News-January 13, 2021
“Stairway to Heaven” is the message for January 17. Some of you will recognize this title as the Led Zeppelin hit song of the 70’s. Others will think of Jacob’s Ladder from Genesis. Both are featured in the message for Sunday. But as we try to climb the stairway to heaven, we first have to spend some time under the fig tree. Not making much sense? Tune in and I think things will come together. Our focus scriptures are John 1:43-51 and Genesis 28:10-16.
Friends, we will continue to meet carefully. We are wearing those masks and social distancing, and you have probably noticed that our services are shorter. As an added precaution, we professionally disinfected and cleaned the church this week to start out the new year. If you do not feel well, think you have been exposed to the virus or you are at risk, then worship with us at fumcluling.org. The message is videotaped or if you prefer, you can read it in narrative form. Or we are livestreaming at around 10:00 on Sunday from our Facebook page. Be sure to “like” and “share”. Let’s be safe and continue to pray that this virus is defeated soon.
There is a COVID-19 test site at the Northside Park (300 Trinity St, Luling, TX), January 4-22, 8am-4pm; registration on-site; walk-up; self-administered mouth swab; no charge; results in 24-48 hours.
New adult Sunday School series. We are meeting at 9:00 in the Conference Room. This should be a terrific book study. It has six session and our first session was very good. The Gospel of John and Jesus’ miracles are guiding the study. Come join us!
Confirmation 2021. We begin on Sunday January 17 at 2:00 until 4:00. The curriculum is in and it looks good! The applications are in the office along with our tentative schedule. I am so looking forward to this class. Please pray for our confirmands! And if you have a child, grandchild or just a neighbor child that is around the 6th grade, then they will be folded into our fellowship and we will all be blessed.
